0:17.1	time today. Kevin brought Mark through. It's an honor that you're here. Thanks for having me.
0:22.9	Yeah man, thanks for being here. If you want to introduce yourself a little bit.
0:26.1	Yeah, John and I met a little over right around 10 years ago and I was a military advisor
0:35.4	on the movie Fury. That was a beautiful movie but we're two and we shot that in England.
0:43.2	My background, I started off in the special operations community in the Navy and then I went
0:50.3	onto the government side out at DC and for the last 10 years I've been a firefighter in
0:57.5	California and Orange County. We've shared so many wonderful conversations. John and I know
1:03.6	where you're going with this podcast and I thought it was too good of an opportunity really to
1:11.2	pass up that we have Mark on with you to discuss the complexities of what it means to be a in
1:18.8	law enforcement for as long as he has what he's seen throughout his career, his leadership mindset
1:26.4	and his perspectives most importantly that people can listen to someone like Mark and take
1:32.4	stock of someone who's been on the inside for a long time and ultimately appreciate what he's
1:39.2	done for Los Angeles and communities across the nation as he continues to serve and train people.
1:46.6	Right on. Mark you want to just kind of get tell us just a little bit about sort of your career
1:54.5	and where you've been what you've done. Yeah I started I came on early on I was 22.
2:02.8	I actually snuck into an LAPD written test when I was underage. Oh really? It was like a
2:08.5	couple of months from my birthday I mean old enough so it was in Van Ayes to still remember it.
2:12.7	Ultimately I joined the Sheriff's Department of 22. I spent about eight plus years in patrol.
2:18.4	I was a training officer. I went to the SWAT team for 10 years and then I was an aid for the sheriff.
2:25.1	I drove the sheriff from LA County for about two and a half years and then I left there
2:30.6	promoted sergeant. I went back to the field for a cup of coffee and then I went to major crimes
