daring to listen. Kevin and his family immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala when he was four years

old. His family would join a local SBC church. The church launched a Spanish-speaking service, and Kevin's dad volunteered his time and talents to leave the service.

Kevin grew up in this church, eventually leading worship for the Spanish service.

Kevin and his family faithfully served the local community, despite blatant racism from some pastors and leaders.

Kevin and his family would leave this church, and Kevin would accept a role as a youth pastor

and worship leader at an American Baptist church in California. Despite the change, Kevin's time

at this new church was horrific.

He experienced gaslighting, racist comments, and verbal abuse from lead pastor.

Kevin desired to be a ministry, but this church wasn't safe.

So he knew for the sake of his own mental and emotional well-being, he had to leave. Kevin would spend

time searching and praying for what's next. He would get a job, and in some ways he maybe

thought ministry was over. But there was a passion inside of him to find and create a place where

all people were welcome and all people were safe.

So now Kevin is launching a new adventure of a new church,

open to everyone,

hopeful that this church can serve the community well
