politics department about Congress, how it worked, and why it doesn't. Michael Barone from

AEI and the Washington Examiner will join us to talk about his latest book,

how America's political parties change and how they don't.

And finally, as Christmas approaches, we'll talk with Jordan Wales from Hillsdale's Theology Department about the Trinity.

and director of American studies here at Hillsdale

College. Dr. Porteus, thanks for joining us. Thank you for having me. This in particular, we have a

relatively new online course, which people can find at online.hillsdale.edu, on Congress, how it worked

and why it doesn't. And that's what we talked with you about today

so let's start from from literally the beginning how was our congress designed to

function well in order to to think about that we have to think about what

congress was supposed to do like any other creation or construction the people

who built it haven't had an idea of what they wanted the institution to do in the same way that

when my children pick up their Legos and start doing something,

and I ask them what they're doing, they can tell me I'm building a car,

I'm building a house, I'm building whatever.

They have an idea of what the outcome is supposed to be.
