That was Ryan Carrigan's very first game as a Washington Redskin.

It was 9-11, 2011. It was the 10-year anniversary of the 9-11

terrorist attacks. The NFL scheduled Washington and New York, the two most impacted cities

from 9-11, on that particular anniversary date to open up against each other in the second half of the Fox doubleheader.

Skins' Giants FedEx Field, the debut of Ryan Carrigan, and there he was early in the third quarter in a 14-14 game.

Doing what we would eventually understand was something that he did really well, which is anticipate plays.

He anticipated wide receiver quick throw.

He felt the cut block by the right tackle, got his hands up in the air,

deflected it to himself, returned it for a touchdown.

Washington took a 21-14 lead,

went on to win that opener, 28 to 14. It's interesting, Ryan Kerrigan during the course of his career,

had just three interceptions. All of them returned for touchdowns. The following year, in 2012,

he anticipated a screen out of the backfield to a running back, and Matt Ryan threw it right to him. I mean, but he did a great job of

rushing and then stopping and getting his hands up in the air, and he had really good hands,

and caught it, returned that for a touchdown. And then in the 2017 opener against Carson Wentz and the Eagles,

in coverage where we didn't necessarily love to see him all the time,

he caught a deflected pass at the line of scrimmage,

picked it off and returned that for touchdown.
