Welcome to another episode of Buckeye Talk. Steve and me is Nathan Beard and Drew Gillis and

we're going to wrap up a little bit of anything else we heard at Big 10 Media Days and then we're going to go through some rapid fire questions.

Nathan had asked last week while we were still on vacation and there's still some really good ones that are left over.

But before we get into some of that stuff, Nathan will start with you. We did hear a couple of names,

whether from Ryan Day or Kate Stover or Marvin Harrison Jr. or J.T. Tuyumalow,

that were maybe mentioned as guys of maybe in the mix of battles or just had a good off season.

Who's one name that maybe stood out to you that's one of those four people said?

Well, I thought it was interesting that Luke Montgomery's name got dropped and I don't know how realistic that is that he would actually be in the mix in a real way this fall.

But Ryan Day brought him up unprompted and told a story about telling him.

Well, let me see. I told him the other day. I said, I know you're a true freshman, but you came here to play.

So that should be your mentality. Now, whether you play in the first game or not, I don't know. Maybe you don't play this year.

But he sees things in him, things he thinks are encouraging, and everything you invest in him, you're going to get back that sort of thing.

And I think more, obviously the tackle battle and where that stands and what we see in the early stages of camp as far as Josh Fryer,

Josh Jimmy Simmons, is that what we're calling him now?

Tigris Shabola, what we see from those guys early in camp is going to be important.

I think it's important to hear Luke Montgomery's name as someone who could be ahead of schedule.

And again, I think Day makes the right phrases the right way. Like, who knows if he's even going to play this year.

I think it's more an acknowledgement of what they see from him long term and that he is on that path.

He's not someone who they're having to like pull along as a freshman that even as a true freshman, he's doing enough things to impress them that it's not ridiculous to mention him in even like a two deep capacity.

Andrew, I know you're still getting the chance to know some of these players on the roster, but as you've been maybe peeking through the roster trying to get backstories on certain people,

do you think it's reasonable that Luke Montgomery, a former top 100 recruit in the 2023 class as a true freshman, could maybe win a starting job?
