Man, such a treat today for me personally of this podcast.

I've been a fan of this gentleman for a very long time.

And the reason why is because he always crushed it when he was on the air.

You guys remember from ESPN so many great segments over the years.

I mean, really in the heyday of that period.

And I'm sure has probably has a lot of fond memories of that.

He is now doing, co-hosting a new podcast talking about golf with my old pal Brian Baumgartner from the office. You know, I was on that show the first couple seasons. And, you know, one of the Manning brothers, who cares which one? You know, it goes like that. But it's called, we meet a fourth. And as a golf fanatic myself, I'm really interested in. And you also has a foundation called Run Free League.

We'd love to talk about that later.

It's so cool to have you, man.

I guess I've been a fan for such a long time.

I always look forward whenever your segments came on. You're always so understated, you know, and Rye. And, you know, it's like he's, yes, he's being funny, but he's still very straightforward. You know, it was really my kind of cup of tea all the time. Well, that's funnier because when I started out, I played football way back when, but it has to do with my foundation, by the way um and i wanted to be like serious i wanted to be ken burns or right uh bob simon middle east correspondent you know i had i took journalism political science and history and english very dedicated that way so i get this job actually tried out with the seahawks i I failed the physical because of my rect ankle. You heard it in college? I heard it my junior year in college, played my senior year. I was back up. A guy named Sam King, led the nation in passing, good friend. And the Seahawks liked him, but he didn't, he was going to go somewhere else. So my coach said, hey, if you like Sam, you like this guy. So I went through, you know, remarkably, because I didn't play that much at a big school. I played a lot in J.C. I was All America there, but UNLV did virtually nothing but go to school, right? And play a little bit. But I go to throw, and people don't know these little tryouts when they bring somebody in. Oh, yeah. It's unofficial.

He catches everything. Makes me look good. That's amazing. Wow. I'm going way too far back, but it kind of leads into it.

I worked my way up. They finally let me on TV. And then they added weekend shows. We used to be

Monday through Friday. There's news on the weekends. It's news to us. That was our motto.
