Welcome to this episode of Kennedy saves the the World and today I have the monumental task of saving the vice presidency, which at this point is almost an impossibility.

You look at where Vice President Kamala Harris is and it is an unenviable position.

Usually being vice president is pretty great because you really don't have to do much and you're a heartbeat away from the presidency. So even

if you are operating through almost total inaction, you seem important because everyone knows if something happens to the top guy,

because it hasn't been a top gal yet, then you are going to be shoehorned right into the

most powerful position in the world. So what happened with Kamala Harris? Well, I will tell you,

it's very difficult for California politicians at this point to take the national stage. And I'll tell you why. You don't really

have to work as a California politician. You don't have to make coalitions. You don't have to

appeal to independent and Republicans because Democrats outnumber both by a large enough margin that it is essentially a monoparty state.

And so it really is the Democrat Party who decides who is going to move up through the ranks and, you know, Kamala Harris checked the boxes and she fit the bill throughout her ascendancy through

the state. And, you know, she was impressive enough that she developed a national profile and

eventually became a United States Senator after being the state attorney general and the

district attorney of San Francisco.
