Good morning it is Friday July 19th five minutes after 11 that is Rob Kendall my name is

Casey Daniels congratulations you made it to Friday give yourself a pat on the back it was a

surprising Friday for many people a routine software update caused a lot of chaos

and that of course coming from Microsoft they had a global outage and well that severely delayed or canceled a lot of flights American

Airlines Delta United all of them they issued ground stop citing

communications problems yeah and obviously like you said Casey a huge impact on a variety of industries across not only this country but across the world and as you said one of the biggest ones is the airline industry and flights grounded, unable to take

off. I didn't hear anything about anybody not being able to land, but obviously it really underscores, because you'll see this obviously when these, now this does not sound like it was some sort of terrorist attack, it's a, you know, cyber attack.

They're saying it was the software update.

Right, that there was some internal thing, they, for lack of a better term, caused it themselves or

did this to themselves or however you want to, you know, phrase that.

But I just, it does underscore how technology can be great. you know

phrase that.

technology can be great until technology doesn't work right and then well now we're

all screwed.

So it has affected banks, it has affected, well it affected the London Stock Exchange in retail.

McDonald's were closed because they were having cash register malfunctions.
