He was expected to be approved today by the Senate Judiciary Committee, putting him one step closer to the Senate confirmation. However, some Democrats have now stopped that process. and Chuck Grassley has said that the minority, as well as himself, have exercised their right to put that nomination on hold. They won another hearing.

Good morning. Today's markup will be brief, so I'll get right down to business. On our agenda,

we've got three administrative committee matters and one nomination listed. The minority,

as well as myself, has exercised their right and my right under the committee rules to hold over the nomination

of Cash Patel to be director of the FBI. So that nomination is held over. Okay, so that means

they're not going to move forward this as quickly as everybody originally thought.

So why take more time?

Some people are saying, oh, the Democrats just need more time to cover up their corruption.

Well, look, I mean, they're going to try to gum up the works on whatever they possibly can.

And if they've got some maneuver available to them based on, you know, usually

they'll try to say, oh, we didn't get this piece of information or the background check

isn't complete with this yet or this was missing from the report. The Republicans do it too.

It's just, but again, you can't get too up or down about the way this
