So is our state going to look different soon? And Indiana General Assembly Bill was filed by one of the most powerful lawmakers.

And it would set up a commission to, quote, embrace neighboring counties in Illinois that want to secede and join the Hoosier state.

This is House Bill 1008.

Okay, so let's kind of give you the background on this.

So there are 33 counties in Illinois.

So if you, and we're going to have a duel on later on in the hour because he's obviously

spent many, many years living in Illinois and understands

kind of the dynamic at play here to go into more detail. But the state is sort of divided in half.

And southern part of Illinois has essentially nothing in common with the power structure in the

north, which is the greater Chicago land area.

And that is the area that rules the roost, right?

Like they dictate public policy in the state of Illinois.

And whether it's taxes or government or government regulation or whatever,

many people, especially in downstate Illinois, have said,

we're sick of this.

And 33 counties have attempted to secede from the state of Illinois. Now, whether that is form their own state or whether

that's joined another state, it's not really clear. Now, the problem with all of this is, you as a county

can't just say, I'm going to Indiana.

Right.

Your own state government would have to allow you to do that.

That's not going to happen.
