So President Biden was speaking with reporters after he was leaving Washington, DC on his

way to North Carolina.

And he said that he has exhausted his ability to counteract gun violence via executive order.

And he said the Congress has to act.

He said, I've gone the full extent of my executive authority to do on my own, anything about

guns.

And then he went on to urge lawmakers to reinstate a federal ban on so-called assault weapons.

This is the 1994 law he was referencing, which banned semi-automatic assault weapons

and also large capacity ammunition devices.
