It is Wednesday, February 12, six minutes after nine.

It's Kendall and Casey on 93 WIBC. So Senate Republicans gutted Mike Braun's

property tax relief plan yesterday. And that's where we begin today. The new version focuses on

tightening referendum rules for schools, limiting growth on property tax levies, and introducing

a first-time homebuyer credit.

However, the annual 3% cap on property tax growth was removed.

The governor's plan capped it at 2%.

They also removed the increased deductions for homeowners.

They completely removed the rate reset.

And Braun's original plan would have reduced average homebuyers tax

bill by 21%. But guess what? That has gone bye-bye. It is the most government thing ever.

They took a very good streamlined moderate bill. Keep in mind, this bill was a real compromise

between what people like me wanted. This is

not what I really wanted and the school people and the government people who didn't want anything.

So we're going to target a very specific group of people. We're going to do the most amount of good

with the least amount of impact on anyone. No commercial was included in this. No rental was
