Good morning. It is Thursday, January 9th. It is six minutes after nine with Kendall and Casey on 93 WIBC.

So yesterday, Indiana state lawmakers convened for the 25 session of the Indiana General Assembly.

Some lawmakers have already introduced bills for the upcoming session,

outlining some of the topics that could be discussed and voted on

during the session and we're going to get into it right now property tax changes will be Senate Bill

one which does indicate that should be their first priority yeah so typically the way it works

is the leading issue for what they, in this case, the Republicans,

because they control the Senate, believe the number one issue is labeled Senate Bill 1.

And typically your top five bills, because there's hundreds of bills that end up getting filed.

There's a limit on how many bills each lawmaker can file.

Maybe it's five.

I can't remember now.

They've narrowed it down a little bit.

But at 50 lawmakers, if they're all doing five bills, that would be 250 bills.

And the same is true on the House side.

And so typically, the top five bills tend to be things that are

priority issues, things that both, there tend to be usually, not always, but usually some sort

of agreement amongst both the House and Senate, these things need to be addressed in

some capacity. And typically, but not always, but typically Senate bills one through five will move

in some capacity in the House of Representatives. And Senate Bill one is the priority bill this time.

And we've not seen the bill yet, has not been released yet to my

understanding, but it will essentially be bronze property tax reform plan, which has two kind
