Sometimes when I am interviewed by or talking to people who aren't very familiar with this particular radio show,

I used to be irritated, but now I'm just struck by how little they understand about the time that you and I spend together every morning.

I think some people still think that it is the redoubt of immigrant hating taxi drivers

or conversations about hard shoulders on motorways and things like that.

But obviously we have been incredibly blessed in recent years with contributors, civilian contributors, people who ring me rather than people who we ring and invite onto the programme.

Although, of course, we still do that.
