And this is a place to be for all things women's sports. Like I said

before, this is the prime part of the year for women's sports. So many leagues are simultaneously

popping off. Trophies are being handed out, left and right. And money has been flowing as people are getting smart, finally, and investing

in these women athletes. We actually dove deeper into that last part last week with our guest

sports business journal reporter Rachel Axson. We chatted about the evolution of using

business and women's sports in the same sentence

since she began reporting on the Olympics many years ago.

The growth not only in the popularity of leagues themselves, which is what we talk about

a lot on this show.

But the growth in coverage, period.

Rachel now has a biweekly newsletter for SBJ covering this topic and opportunity she could

have only dreamed of a few years ago.

So not only is the play increasing money going up, but just being able to hire somebody

full time to report on women's sports and specifically the business of it is huge. But one of the

most interesting things from our conversation that has really stuck with me, I think I've

told a dozen people about this already. But when Rachel

explained to me in our episode last week that women's sports fans aren't inherited yet,

like growing up, my dad was a Lakers fan. Therefore, I became a Lakers fan. There wasn't really any say because it was just what we did
