How is it that as we approach our 100th podcast, we still haven't interviewed Kelly Nichols?

It's not as if she was a brief flash-in-the-pan star of the adult film industry who came and left in a hurry.

In fact, Kelly had two noteworthy careers. First, she was a star in front of the camera in the early 1980s,

when she was considered one of the best actresses in the industry.

She appeared in films such as roommates, Puss in Boots and in Love, and earned legions of fans and plenty of awards for her performances.

And then she was even more prolific as an adult film makeup artist, working on hundreds of movies from the late 1970s all the way up to just a few years ago.

And along the way, she also found time to appear in the film King Kong as Jessica Lang's stunt double.

She had a memorable role in the cult horror movie, The Toolbox Murders, and even made an adult

film on Australia in the mid-1980s. Yet, given all her success, how is it that someone

recognized by many as one of the most beautiful women in the adult film industry has often thought

of herself as an ugly duckling? I don't know why we've waited so long, but at last, it's time for

the Kelly Nichols story. I'm Ashley West, and this is the reality of order.

So where were you brought up?

I was brought up in San Gabriel Valley in California, small little suburbs in the middle 50s.

What's that like as a neighborhood?

Basically, it was orange groves till the GIs bought out tracks of it to make into homes.

And what were your parents like?

My mom was kind of a war bride.

And your dad?

He came home, went to school, and he had a GI bill with the government, so he was able to purchase, you know, a brand new home.

These were like your perfect ideal suburbs with the school close by and the grocery store and the roads were all well done.
