Summary

Keith worked on the "Truck Line" in the Flint Michigan from 1980-85, building C10 Trucks. Keith even followed his own truck down the line.

They were building one truck a minute back then, Damn Son! 

Keith ended up switching jobs, multiple times over his 40 year career, but the line was his first.

He worked for General Motors for 40 years.

Started off in Flint, Michigan, working on line one, trucks, C-10 trucks.

When I graduated and I was an actual full-time employee, I was the supervisor on line one, which was the pickup line, in the

fender set area.

So what that means then is the area prior to me, their last operation was body drop.

So that's when the cab and pickup box were set on the chassis.

And that guy would tighten down the cab bolts, and then it went into my area.

And in my area, we fixed the cab bolts that they cross-threaded or messed up.

We tightened the pickup box down.

We hung the spare tire.

We installed the floor shift levers. So like the M20 manual

trans with the creeper gear, my guy put that shift lever in. And then under hood wiring and to the

point where we put the front fenders on, left and right front fender. And then I had a couple of

repair guys. And then it went into the

next area where they set the hood on and finished it off so I had I want to say 36 or 37

hourly employees that reported to me and there were probably about 26 productive operations which included the left

side, the right side and then I had guys in the pit as well.
