Summary

0:00.0	Welcome back my friends to the morning mindset. It's time for you and for me to get our minds aligned with the truth of God.
0:10.0	I am so glad that you're here. Let's set our minds toward the word of God that we can be
0:16.6	encouraged by its truth and equipped for what faces us today. We are wrapping up the book of Galatians chapter 6 this week and we have
0:26.3	spent a number of weeks going through this small letter that gives us so much truth about what it means to live in the power of
0:36.2	the spirit and free of the restrictions of some binding moral code that's just a list of rules and regulations that we have to be so careful to follow.
0:47.0	You see the reason we can be free of that sort of a restrictive sort of a law is because the Holy Spirit of God, the one who
0:56.0	authored the law, now lives in us. And he guides us step by step in ways that are consistent with that law.
1:05.0	So you see there's nothing the Holy Spirit's going to guide us to do that is
1:09.2	contrary to that law. But our focus is entirely different.
1:14.1	We're not looking at that law anymore as our means of being justified.
1:20.1	We are now trusting the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on our behalf to make us right with God.
1:28.4	And then in the power of the Holy Spirit we live our lives as he guides us day by day step by step.
1:36.3	That's the argument Paul has been making in the book of Galatians.
1:40.5	And in chapter 6 verse 12, Paul kind of sums up his argument before he signs off on the letter.
1:48.0	He says, it is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.
2:00.0	For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law.
2:05.0	But they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.
2:09.0	Now let's stop for a moment and make sure that we understand the context. You see Paul was writing to
2:16.2	believers in Jesus Christ who were not and never had been Jewish people.
2:23.0	And so for them to receive a circumcision
2:26.3	would be a huge deal.
