Welcome back to the Beach Podcast. We are back for day two with Victoria and last

0:18.0

episode we talked about food safety and all the stuff that might be on your produce that you don't really like to think about,

0:24.8

but it's there, it's real. So let's talk about how to safely clean that produce, how to store it,

0:29.3

so we could actually enjoy it properly. So Victoria, last time I mentioned that I like to rinse my produce and then just eat it. Is there anything wrong with that? Am I safe? What's the deal?

0:39.2

Considering you do have chickens in your garden? I would always and keep in mind nothing is 100%. It's all about

immunocompromised. Whether you have grandparents or parents or maybe a young toddler, it's very just important to keep these things in mind.

1:03.4

Okay. I think that's actually a really nice introduction baseline, right?

1:07.8

So I think that's a great baseline to start.

1:21.8

Well the other thing let's keep in mind is with cross

1:24.4

contamination of a lot of foodborne illnesses and and many of the major ones

1:30.2

that we've seen and resulted in deaths here in our country.

1:34.0

It was never that some of these children,

1:36.5

and the ones that I'm thinking of it exactly,

1:38.4

never actually consumed the product themselves.

1:40.8

It was through cross-contamination

1:42.3

that they end up getting sick and eventually. So it may be something that the

1:47.5

toddler or your elderly grandfather is not

1:55.0

consuming themselves, using the same bathroom and maybe not being clean or a countertop

1:58.0

could then affect that.
