Summary
I genuinely think 18 year old me would be in complete disbelief that this episode exists.
So for some context for anyone who hasn't been here for 10 years, Kayla Itsines is the reason I started this Instagram account at all, I literally had “Kayla” in my username because my page was dedicated to doing her guide. In a weird way, everything that came after that was a complete snowball effect into what I do now, and what my life looks like, so getting to sit down with her felt very, very full circle.
I really wanted this conversation to go deeper than just the "Bikini Body Guide" era and how quickly it grew. We get into success, what it means to be thrust into it so young, what it does to the people around you, and how you navigate big life moments in the public eye. We also speak about pregnancy loss and pregnancy after loss in a way neither of us have really shared online before, as well as her decision to fully reacquire Sweat after selling it for $400 million in 2021.
This is honestly one of my favourite episodes we’ve ever recorded and I feel so grateful to Kayla for not only rearranging a flight to make it happen, but also being so open and honest with me. What a woman.

| 0:00.0 | What is up? I'm Grace Beverly and welcome back to Working Hard, the podcast |
| 0:15.0 | guidebook on how to improve your own life and achieve what you actually dreamed of doing, |
| 0:18.8 | because life's too short for boring podcasts and bad advice. |
| 0:25.2 | What is up and welcome back to working hard. Okay, what the fuck? I would say that 18 year old me |
| 0:32.4 | would be in complete disbelief at recording this episode because, well, I talk about it in the episode |
| 0:38.5 | itself, but I at 18 would never have believed that I would be sitting here today with the |
| 0:43.9 | guest we have on the podcast. Today, I am joined by Kayla Itzines. She is the woman who both |
| 0:51.1 | inspired me to start my fitness journey online, but also I started my Instagram account |
| 0:57.5 | with the word Kayla in it, because it was a page dedicated to doing her guide. So therefore, |
| 1:04.9 | I guess in a roundabout way, she inspired me to kind of start my career. And that's literally why I started posting on Instagram. |
| 1:12.9 | And all of that was a snowball effect to get to where I am now. And so this conversation felt so |
| 1:20.0 | incredibly full circle. In the episode, we talk about what the bikini body guide era was actually |
| 1:26.5 | like behind the scenes and how it exploded globally so quickly |
| 1:29.5 | and how Kayla built one of the biggest fitness movements in the world before the creator economy even existed. |
| 1:35.6 | What I also really wanted from this episode, well, I wanted a lot of things from this episode, |
| 1:39.4 | particularly because of the personal impact it had on me. |
| 1:43.5 | But I really wanted to have an honest conversation |
| 1:46.3 | between two women about success, about what it means to be thrust into success, about what that |
| 1:52.1 | means for the people you have around you, about what that means when you then go through big things. |
| 1:57.2 | Kayla also recently opened up about having lost a pregnancy, which is obviously something |
| 2:01.6 | that I went through pretty recently as well. So we have a pretty unfiltered conversation in this |
| 2:07.6 | episode in a way that I don't think either of us have online about both pregnancy loss and |
