Well the news broke at a pretty amusing time for me. I was just sitting down at

Momofuku with Jared Weiss and KP Jared was paying up for the Jason Tatum shooting 40% on three

pointers but with some Wagyu beef KP had already banged out a column on the summer league

debut of RJ Barrett and Zaid Williamson and then the news broke and it was just an absolute mayhem

ensued. Chris Haynes was about a minute before Shams and Woj Haines, a rather comical tweet that

Kawai Leonard's camp was amused that he was reportedly headed to every team but the Clippers

and everyone who had the reports of oh the Lakers are in the lead. Oh he's 99% going to Toronto.

Now it's 99.9% going to Toronto. I love that Kawai just completely had everyone fooled

total radio silence. Meanwhile he's recruiting Paul George and then the trade at the center to

get Paul George to the Clippers way more than Paul George should have been worth on his own but

the Clippers probably thought of it as hey we're trading all this stuff for Kawai and Paul George.

So Kawai going to sign a four year max contract about 140 million with the Clippers no

wearing a player option yet I would assume he'll get one and then what the hell happened Danny

in this trade with OKC to get Paul George to the Clippers. I mean it comes on the heels of what

was a wild day first day of Vegas summer league and this is I mean this is a seismic event really

it is for the NBA. Yeah our second of the day. A second of the day and and I think that it does all

feed together and there are so many different threads that will try to go through as many as we

can on this recording but yeah let's start with the terms of the trade because they're they're

stunning in the scope of of the league and and where everything is going. So actually as a as a

piece of logistical stuff kind of before I get into the nuts and bolts. This trade works as a

self-sufficient thing with salary matching. So what that means is that Kawai Leonard presumably will

sign first they have enough space to do that and then this trade will happen because it is it is not
