My unsung hero is a boy named Spencer.

He was like a son.

Today's story comes from Catherine Fumier.

In the summer of 2005, Catherine had finished her freshman year of college and was living in an apartment for the summer.

She was learning how to cook for herself for the first time, and one day she decided to cook a hard boiled

egg by putting it in a mug of water in the microwave. She let the egg cook for a bit, then

pull the mug out and looked down at it.

And that's when the egg exploded in her face,

burning her skin and eyes.

It was a terrible injury, and the pain was excruciating. Luckily, a classmate was a terrible injury and the pain was excruciating.

When it arrived, the EMT who cared for her

during the 45 minute drive to the hospital
