The practice of dream incubation began in ancient Greece where travelers with health concerns

would arrive at healing sanctuaries known as esclapions.

These sacred spaces were situated amidst majestic gardens with elaborate fountains, streams,

and mineral springs.

After cleansing rituals and prayerful intentions, a person would then fall asleep in a dream

incubation chamber.

According to the inscriptions on the walls of these sanctuaries, dreamers would awaken

either fully healed or with specific instructions that led to their healing.
