To discuss why this matters, we've invited Kate Kelly back to the show.

Kate is a senior director for the Women's Initiative at Center for American Progress.

We know that we deserve to have our equality in the Constitution.

And it's not about giving me equal rights.

It's about recognizing that I'm already equal and recognize those equal rights.

The Equal Rights Amendment.

It has existed for over 100 years.

And every single one of those 100 years, people who oppose equality

have put procedural barriers in the way. Democrats in Congress are reviving a decade-old

push to pass the Equal Rights Amendment into the U.S. Constitution. This effort comes as a new

court battle appears headed for the U.S. Supreme Court

that could ban abortion medications nationwide. Over 120 members of the House of Representatives

have called on President Biden to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, ERA, before he leaves office.
