It's almost like if we all have in our lives the weight of the past and the weight of

the present and the weight of the future, the people who dump too much weight onto the

future forget then that all of us still need the beauty and the importance of the now.

And also we need to be able to look back into our past and think, like, little breadcrumbs,

where was hope and beauty already there?

Like, I love being able to look through a photo book, especially when I'm scared or things

are just really hard.

I love being able to look into old photos and think, I don't have to be hopeful in this

moment.

But all this beauty, like, that stuff is already mine.

months to live.

She was one of our first guests on Clear and Vivid three years ago and her clear eye

adoptism in the face of uncertainty was thrilling.

But she's in a vowed enemy of mindless positivity, the kind petled and self-help books.

She's an inspiring, buoyant and funny as ever, both in her new book, No Cure for Being

Human, as well as in our conversation.
