0:00.0	As I'm sure you know, Carl Bart is by general consensus the greatest Protestant theologian of the last two century.
0:07.7	Theological greatness is no doubt an elusive matter and a contested one, and perhaps it's just a bad idea.
0:18.1	Nonetheless, it's generally held that to find Bart's Protestant equal in weight of theological contribution and in originality and importance,
0:29.6	we have to go back at least to Friedrich Schlermacher in the early 1800s, the opponent within Protestantism, whom Bart thought he most had to

0:47.5	December of 1968 that Bart had died, Jeffrey Bromley wrote as follows, that Carl Bart was the great church father of evangelical

1:17.2	To find anything approaching is equal, we have to look far beyond Schlermacher in Bromley's view.
