I don't think you have to do things for money anymore. Correct. What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Film Room podcast. I'm Pete, joined by Darius. And today, we honor one of the basketball gods, one of our very own, the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Dee, we caught the second half of Kareem's career as we were very little kids, first falling in

love with basketball. And so there's a certain amount that we can speak from our own experience

in our own eyes. But it's like saying you watch LeBron, but the only LeBron you ever got to see

was the Lakers LeBron. You still got to see

an all-time great, one of the greatest ever. But if you didn't get to see 2012 LeBron or 2007 or even 2003

LeBron, you don't have the full story. And so a lot of our memories of Kareem are the stories

of our fathers and the media members and the people who told the stories

of the game when we were a kid. And then, as Kobe would say, banners hang forever, right? And that's

also true of statistical accomplishments. You open up Kareem's resume and it's as impressive as

anybody all time. And so I'd love to start there, before we go back in our journey

in time to Power Memorial and all of that. It's sort of as we all get older and as these players

sort of fewer and fewer people can speak on their greatness as eyewitness accounts, a lot of what

they leave behind is sort of that resume.

And Kareem is right up there with the best of all time.
