Today's podcast is a chat with business journalist, near-times columnist, and co-founder

of RECode, Cara Swisher.

This conversation took place on May 29th, and in the chat we talk about Los Angeles having

a good mayor in terms of how Eric or Citi responded to the coronavirus.

Of course, in the times since May 29th, we have seen mayors across the US respond sometimes

in very appropriate and helpful ways and sometimes really lacking on the topic of Black

Lives Matter and police violence as it relates to specifically Black people, the Black community.

So I just wanted to mention that this conversation would not have played out the way that it

did May 29th today.

Some of that is what Black people are mentioning right now is that it's easy, it would have

been easy for me on May 29th to say, yeah, I have a good mayor.

And my evolving understanding, many way people's evolving understanding of what it means to

live in cities and be over-policed, is part of what Black folks have been calling for

and part of what white folks are just showing up for.
