host of the On with Kara Swisher podcast,

co-host of the pivot podcast, which is always right around the Bullwork podcast in the Apple

charts. Not that I obsess over those. I do. I haven't loved it. And she's the author of three books

including the brand new memoir, Burn Book. Thanks for doing this, Kara. Thank you for

having me. So if you don't mind, I want to start, like as I was reading the

book I became obsessed with one question that's kind of not really a topic of the book but it's adjacent

So if you don't mind can we do one big picture question?

Not at all.

Let's do it.

So you know because you started this what in the 90s the

90s you started reporting on this early 90s so I was thinking about this as I was

reading through and I was like going back through the 90s into the mid-aoths maybe even late

if you asked people if they thought the technological advances to date were like good

or bad for society basically everybody would have said good there are always

some lightites but basically everybody would have said good. There are always some luddites,

but basically everybody would have said positive.

Today, if I raise that question with my peers,

there's a lot of uncertainty.

And so I wonder where you fall on that spectrum sitting it now,

Has it been a net positive this transformation
