Good morning. It's four minutes after ten. Thank you for, I know you don't have to choose me at 10 o'clock every morning.

I sometimes wonder that I wonder whether I need to, I should be a bit more appreciative.

You know, time is money and you give me your time, if not actually your money.

But thank you anyway for choosing LBC, choosing me this morning. I endeavor to justify

your faith. I am possibly going to surprise you with the choice of first conversation today, though.

I want to veer back to the conversation that we were having at the end of last week about

Labour's inheritance tax on farmers. Because I fear that a little bit

of what we call footballification has crept into the conversation. And I think the conversation

might be more nuanced, more complex than a lot of the commentary allows. I could be wrong. It may

well be that this is a fairly straightforward binary proposition and that farmers who worry they won't be able to meet the inheritance tax

due on their estates or the value of their estates that exceeds three million pounds in most

cases just need to cancel their Netflix subscriptions and eat fewer avocados. But I suspect

that's a slightly lazy

and stubborn approach. Part of the reason for me having a rethink is a man called

Rebanks, a farmer called James Rebanks, who farms in the Lake District. He's a fell farmer and

a beautiful writer. You're probably aware of him.

He started tweeting in 2012 as a herdy shepherd and has written three books now. Well, four

technically. One of a kind of illustrative text. And I was with him yesterday for full disclosure

that I think will come out this week. And he really made me think about things.

His new book is extraordinary, the place of tides. And it examines humanity really. And his own journey

from a position of quite pugilistic attitudes.
