Tonight the Kamala Harris campaign the vice president gives her first

remarks since moving to the top of the ticket and honors president Biden but who will

Good evening once again I'm Stephanie Rule live from Rockefeller Center and there are

106 days until the election.

And this was the first full day of the 2024 Kamala Harris campaign after President

Biden's historic announcement Sunday that he would drop

out of the race he endorsed his VP. Within hours Vice President Harris and her

allies jumped into action. A source tells NBC News that Harris herself spent more than 10 hours on the

phone yesterday calling party leaders, lawmakers, governors, and labor leaders. And her campaign is already seeing results.

It is reported an 81 million dollar fundraising hall

in her first 24 hours as a presidential candidate.

That money came from nearly 900,000 donors and 60% of

them were making their first donation in the 2024 election. Harris is not yet the official nominee, not until the DNC delegates vote, but NBC News can now

report that Vice President Harris has support from a majority of Democratic Party pledged delegates. These are just

endorsements. Delegates haven't voted yet. But it is a sign that Harris is

well on her way to officially becoming the Democratic nominee and she has racked up a tidal wave

of endorsements in the last 24 hours and no other potential candidates have come forward to challenge her.

Just tonight the chair of the DNC said the party will deliver a nominee by August 7th. That is two weeks from Wednesday and about two weeks before the convention in Chicago.
