I am Chris Hayes and as I would just say we were living in a very different political

universe we are living in a very different political universe than the one I left

when I did go on vacation two weeks ago.

These past couple of weeks have been some of the most remarkable and transformative in the history

of American presidential politics, no question.

We saw an incumbent president drop out of the race for re-election for the first time more than 50 years.

We saw his replacement, his vice president, Kamala Harris, rise to become the first woman of color at the top of any major party ticket,

and as of today the actual

official Democratic nominee. And now we've got the final key piece in place

for this transformative few weeks, the other part of the Democratic ticket with Harris's choice of

Minnesota Governor Tim Walsh as her running mate announced today. It is now a

completely new race, reshaped by a surge enthusiasm for the presumptive

nominee Kamala Harris, now leading in the polling average and I should know

that the Democratic nominee was decidedly not leading in the polling average when I left for vacation just two weeks ago.

Tonight Vice President Harris aimed to keep up that surge of excitement and momentum

with a major packed raucous rally in Philadelphia rolling out and introducing a brand new running

me.

Since the day that I announced my candidacy I set out to find a partner who can help build this

brighter future. A leader who will help unite our nation and move us forward.

A fighter for the middle class, a patriot who believes as I do in the extraordinary

promise of America. A promise.

A promise. A promise of freedom, opportunity, and justice, not just for some but for all. So Pennsylvania I'm here today because I'm here today because I found such a leader.
