We've given it a name on the call because it's you know basically me

calling up people I think are smart about politics and trying to get help keeping up

with this suddenly very exciting election this week on the call Anna and Gary Doradas, he's the author most recently of The Persuaders

winning hearts and minds in a divided age and his sub-stack newsletter, The Inc, where he and the people he's been talking to are making the case

that the Harris campaign has taken us in a fundamentally new direction for the Democratic Party when it comes to

doing politics in the modern world and I want to talk to him about that so on and

welcome back to our show. Thank you so much for having me back. I usually only get

invited places once so this is good.

Now that is that is distinctly not true but but I'm flattered. So in the like

moments after Harris announced Tim Waltz as her VP

Trace you fired off some thoughts to the Inc subscribers that were to me a tidy

summation of the interesting and compelling case that you guys have been making about Harris in that space.

And you made it a six point list and I'm gonna just like actually walk through that those points because I just think it already

summed it up for me but I'm going to start with the second one which is the most striking this idea that she

understands the attention economy in which we live.

Explain that point because it just feels so crucial to what we've seen over the last three weeks.

Yeah, you know, it sometimes takes a lot of time to realize you're living in a different

era than the era you thought you were living in or the era you were trained in your profession in and so

everybody who is a an interviewer like you or a politician or a writer like me

was not trained yesterday. We were trained in another time.
