| 0:11.9 | And if you're a DB, you can't help a backup. |
| 0:15.0 | And that carries over with all the routes that he runs. |
| 0:17.8 | I think it's been really good for our young route runners to see because it's really what we want to see across the board. And so he's been exactly what we hope for |
| 0:25.3 | when he came to the building. And it's as good as I've seen him in the spring. |
| 0:30.3 | Boy, is that a cool description of Khalif Raymond by his coach, Ben Johnson? |
| 0:34.6 | Raging off the line of scrimmage? Raging off the line of scrimmage, a vertical push to every route that he runs. |
| 0:42.5 | So you're afraid of his speed, and he knows you are. |
| 0:46.5 | He's taking advantage of that. |
| 0:48.1 | Man. |
| 0:48.6 | The concept of taking the top off of a defense. |
| 0:51.6 | And just like the way that you can use that as a weapon to buy space on the other routes. |
| 0:57.4 | And look, you know, DJ Moore for whatever your criticisms of him are, having that guy exit your |
| 1:03.8 | room, you better make sure that you have a guy coming into your room that can garner respect |
| 1:09.3 | and is someone that guys can learn from take little tricks |
| 1:14.4 | of the trade from and you're hoping that Luther Burden who also has take the top off the |
| 1:20.0 | defense type speed. He's like, hey, let me let me make sure that I'm as good of a technician |
| 1:25.4 | as I can be with all the natural stuff. You add the mechanical stuff to it. Then you turn into one of the better players in the league. The first time we saw Khalif Raymond as a bear, he was wearing a Decatur Staley's hat. Well, he was wearing a White Sox cap first, remember? Yes. And they told him to take it off. Uh-huh. And then he put on the Decatur Staley. But I think he then went to White Sox and threw out the first pitch in a White Sox cap. So good for him. That is good for him. He was on the NFL network on the Insiders Show. And we get a chance to get to know him a little bit in this kind of context. And we thought you'd enjoy it. This is Bears wide receiver, Khalif Raymond, the former Detroit Lion, talking about his relationship with Ben Johnson as it goes back to Detroit. Oh, man, it's going to be interesting. Definitely new experience. Like I said, I've been there for the last five years. So going across the lake is definitely new. But I'm excited for it. It's been awesome being here so far, and I'm thankful to be able to be here and have that various logo on my helmet. So to start with Ben, I think one of the coolest parts about him is, man, he finds the best in what everybody can do. And that's one of the coolest parts about playing under him, playing with him, getting to know |
| 2:35.4 | him is he finds that everybody's really, really good at. And he finds a way to allow you to excel in it. And then just being in Detroit, man, one thing I was very, very thankful for is they gave me the opportunity. It didn't matter with my size, my weight, none of this stuff, man. they say, hey, man, if you can go play football, |
| 2:51.0 | we're going to give you a chance to do so. |
| 2:52.9 | So you put those two combinations together, man, I'm having my best years, and I'm thankful to continue that with Ben. But he's a genius with this stuff, so it's awesome to be with him. And in that time that you guys had together in the past, obviously go through a lot. What's the Ben Johnson story that creeps in there and works its way out whenever anybody asks you to talk about your relationship with your now head coach? Man, I say the same thing. It's the same story. And it's the one that changed my perception of Ben. He put this picture. I think he said he was in Miami or just leaving Miami at the time. He was at the beach. and was in the transition in between jobs, man. He says it's one of those moments where it's supposed to be a happy moment. And he was in some regards, but he had so much hunger and draw for him that he knew what he had to do next. And that kind of perspective, I know what kind of man he was. And he exemplifies that the way he works. I mean, last in, last out, I'm worried if he sleeps enough. I'm like, man, you got to go get some rest, man, but that's what he is, man. He just, he wants it so bad. He wants it for himself, but he also wants it for his players and his team. And that's the kind of work he puts in. got to make sure that you get proper sleep. It in itself is a superpower. Getting the right amount of sleep. Yeah. Yeah. And good sleep. Like we fetishize like the coaches that do this. But all of them will tell you in retrospect, you know what I could have done? I could have gotten more sleep. You know what I fetishized these days? Sleep? |
