Most of Katie Major story comes from her husband Aaron major Aaron was the main source of information that Rick Ollick, the Berkeley County Sheriff's investigator relied on.

In 2015 48 hours followed the case leaving viewers hopeful that the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department were taking another look at Katie and River's death.

Only the cold case investigation came to a complete halt after the show aired.
