Aloha, everybody in Mahalo for taking the time to be here for this discussion, one that I am very

excited to have and looking forward to seeing what could be built and grown through it. My name is Eilim Long and I'm Kanaka Maui and I'm zooming in from Honolulu. I'm with the

Honolulu branch of the Huyaloha Aina, A Hawaiian political organization that was born in response to the

overthrow of our government in 1893 by US Marines and Navy in conspiracy with white sugar barons in Hawaii. The purpose of Huyaloha Aina that actually formed in 1893 was to restore our Queen

Miliu Kalevi and their focus shifted then to collecting the 40,000 signatures across the islands,

which was nearly all persons in the islands at that time in opposition to annexation to the United States.

Huyaloha Aena was reconstituted in 2015 by respected pro-independence freedom fighting elders across the islands and our mission remains to promote and build power towards the occupation of our country and for a free and independent Hawaii and Pacific. This talk is in

collaboration with the Red Nation and Red Media which we're super excited about and

the Red Nation is a coalition of Native

and non-native activists and educators,

students and community organizers advocating

for Native liberation.

Before we get to our discussion topic, we all want to bring everyone's attention to the violence that Israel is inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza,

which is violence upon all Palestinians in the world. And the

mainstream media is misframing this as some sort of balanced justified conflict

between Israel and jihadists.

And this is a lie to cover for Israel's illegal occupation

of Palestine and the ongoing beseagement of Gaza

and the displacement of Palestinian people.
