Hi everyone. Welcome to K Dreaming. My name is Mel and you may know me as one of the co-hosts

of the podcast, Asian Boss Girl. Through that podcast, you might recognize me as someone who's a

fan of pop culture and media, but if you really know me, you know I'm a huge fan of Korean dramas

and K-pop. Any time I meet someone that shares that same intense love for K-dramas or has

that same bias as me from god7, it's a special bond reform. For K Dreaming, my hope is to extend

that connection out and allow people to float away into this fantasy land. It's K Dreaming time.

Alright, so one of the first and biggest questions I get asked by people is how did you get into

K-dramas? Well, I had to go all the way back to the 2000s, the early 2000s, to give you

all some context. I am Taiwanese American. So my first taste of dramas was actually Taiwanese dramas

and I would even watch old-fashioned soap operas with my grandparents back in Taiwan. Like

dramas that only spoke Taiwanese and like the countryside, dramas also took place in the countryside.

Back in the day, I was very exposed to this Asian soap opera world, but there's one drama that

released it out to me and that was in 2001. It was called Meteor Garden with the OGF4s, or F.

Mandarin. I wanted to give you a little bit of history. Back then, in the early 2000s, Singapore,

South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong were known as the four Asian tigers. Pretty much during the 1960s
