I'm John Baster, behind the black with Bob Zimmerman. We're going exploring. Right now,

curiosity is found large carbon molecules where about all right this was this

is actually researched on by scientists on the ground here on earth using data that curiosity

gathered uh 12 years ago when it was still on the floor of gale craterater. They looked at the data.

They did some experimentation.

Basically, the data had shown there was signs of amino acids.

So they decided to do some ground lab tests to see if the amino acids that were discovered

might actually have been fragments from much larger carbon

molecules.

And the ground-based research now, 12 years later, says yes.

The floor of Gail Crater has very large carbon molecules, organic molecules.

This does not mean it's life, but it means very complicated amino fatty acids can exist on Mars.

There's a lot of uncertainty about this because it's ground-based.

It's not actual data from the place, but at least that's a really interesting result, John.
