Writers love their characters, and yet we have to be willing to do some pretty nasty stuff

to them.

I've been raking my characters over the coals this week, and they're not the only one suffering.

This particular scene has been one agonizing word after the other, which surprised me since

it was one of the earliest scenes I came up with and I'd been looking forward to writing it.

That's what I get for being sadistic, I guess.

But as of yesterday, I can claim a triumphant ending to the scene.

Now it's on to something more fun, like a fist fight.
