I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason so you know I was put in a place where I wasn't, you know, really never in a place of my entire life. So I think, you know, I tried to have a different perspective on it. Of course, you know, Russ has been in the league for a long time. So I learned a lot of great things from him and, you know, got to kind of learn a different perspective of things. It was, of course, different for me in a space where I wasn't necessarily comfortable.

But at the end of the day, like I said, you know, Coach Tomlin, he made a decision

where he thought was best for the team.

And like I said, I'm never going to, you know, go against that.

Of course, I'm not a selfish guy whatsoever. So like I said, I just tried to change my perspective, get better each and every day in practice.

That's slight revisionist history by Justin Fields.

He embraced the trade to Pittsburgh, even though he knew it meant being the second string quarterback.

He stumbled into the starting job because Russell Wilson injured his calf during training

camp, and they let him keep going for like six games.

And then the decision was made.

Russell Wilson's healthy.

And look, this was a decision Mike Tomlin made, and it didn't work out.

He thought we've got a team that can contend at a high level in the

AFC, and we've got a guy who's got a Super Bowl pedigree. He's been to two of them.

Let's go with him because he can take us farther than Justin Fields could do.

I think if Tomlin had to do it over again, he would have stuck with Justin Fields, but that's what happened.

And Fields willingly stepped into that. I know he was traded, but we heard all the talk last

year. The Bears traded him to a place where he wanted to go. Right. He wanted to go there after

they had Russell Wilson on the roster. So look, I think they made a mistake when they benched him, and he could get benched

again. His contract, as we said, from the moment we heard that it's two years, 40 million. It doesn't

scream out. This guy is going to be the clear-cut starting quarterback for the Jets for the duration

of his time there. Aaron Glenn's already said QB1 in pencil.
