If God would extend the measuring rod of His justice and by that standard evaluate your

life and my life, both of us would perish.

And most of us think that the way to solve this problem is simply to work harder even

though we have the unambiguous warning from Scripture that by the works of the law shall

no flesh be justified.

I can't count the number of people I've spoken to outside of the church that have told

me that they'll go to heaven, that they're a Christian because they believe in God and

they try to live a good life.

But as R.C. Sproul just said, the Bible is clear that by the works of the law no flesh

shall be justified.

So how are full and men and women, boys and girls, reconciled to a holy God if trying to be

a good person isn't the answer?

Well, the correct answer to that question couldn't be more crucial because if we get it wrong,

it has eternal consequences.

And as Christians we need to be reminded of these core gospel truths so that we're not

tempted to trust in our own good works and to keep us sharp as we have opportunity to

share the gospel with others.
