Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Our culture has confused justice, human rights, and entitlements.

We need to finish our reflection on justice by

clearing this up, but it will take all five points so stick with me to the end.

Justice is that which is owed to another person.

Human rights are closely related, but they are not the same and this distinction must be preserved.

The virtue of justice is to give to God and others what we owe them, and not deny them things

they have a right to.

Inalienable human rights are related but distinct. Every

human person has inalienable rights because God the Creator has endowed that is given us a human nature which needs things to

preserve that nature to be fulfilled complete and happy. A right is something you can't be arbitrarily deprived of. Innocent

persons cannot be deprived of freedom, property, life, employment, etc.

Guilty persons may be deprived of these rights, these goods, such as life,

liberty, property, or gun ownership.

The government does not have to provide these,

but the government should promote these and ensure that people are not denied or deprived of them.
