And today we are again discussing an issue that has been gaining a lot of prominence in recent times,

the UK government's white paper on gambling and the potential for government overreach.

Joining us today is Brian Chappell, a renowned advocate for fair and transparent treatment for punters in the betting industry.

For the last six years, Brian and his team of volunteers at Justice for Punters have been offering free advice to individuals in dispute with gambling firms.

Brian will share his insights on how individual companies can use vague and unfair terms and conditions to avoid paying out on bets, confiscate balances and other dubious practices.

His experience in handling hundreds of cases has resulted in a whopping 2.6 million pounds being extracted from operators who would initially refuse to pay out.

Brian's work and expertise has been highlighted by major news outlets like the Guardian who noted his tireless efforts towards promoting fairness in the industry.

What inspired you to found justice for punters and what keeps you motivated to continue fighting for punters rights?

It's simple really, it was the legal intrusion of privacy and account restrictions by legal regulated bookcase.

We're not talking about the black market here.

We've been doing cases for 67 years, but we actually, before we launched Justice for Punters for about 80 months to 2 years, we had been working in the background with the gambling commission and others.

And let's be fair, we've been pretty unsuccessful around account restrictions, but we have brought the force certainly changes in privacy, which of course we're going to talk about potential even bigger invasions into privacy later.

But that's why we're starting.

Can you give us an idea of some of the common issues that punters have been facing dealing with gambling firms?
