Summary

Kids say creepy things all the time—but when they start describing someone who watches you sleep and claims they don’t like you, things hit a little different. In this story from a father in small-town Ohio, a four-year-old’s imaginary friend named Lily becomes a little too real. The nightly footsteps. The whispers. The dread that crept in after sundown. But it wasn’t until he came home sick from work one night, alone in the house, that he finally saw her—standing in the living room, just watching… smiling. The kind of smile you don’t forget.
