In this episode, Destin Daniel Kretton takes us behind the scenes of his new drama,

Just Mercy.

Based on a true story, the film follows young lawyer Brian Stevenson's efforts to overturn the murder conviction of

Walter McMillian, who was sentenced to die for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite

ample evidence proving his innocence.

In addition to Just Mercy, Mr. Cratton's directorial credits include the feature films The Glass

Castle, Short-Term 12, and I'm Not a Hipster.

The documentary is Drachmar, a vassal's journey, and I'm Not a Hipster, the documentary is Dracmar of Assel's Journey and

Born Without Arms, and the television series Scenes for Miners.

Following a recent screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, Mr. Cratton

spoke with director Anna Bowden about filming Just Mercy. Listen on for their spoiler-filled
