On this episode, I'm going to be telling you all about the murder of Valeria Marquez, also known as the Mexican Barbie.

Valeria Marquez is a 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer who was tragically shot and killed

during a TikTok live stream at her salon in Zapapan, Halisco, on May 13, 2025.

The incident has garnered widespread attention and sparked discussions about

Femicide and violence against women in Mexico.

Now, while live streaming from her salon, Blossom, the Beauty Lounge, Valeria was

approached by a man posing as a delivery person. Moments before the attack, she expressed fear on

camera on the TikTok live, saying, maybe they were going to kill me.

This assailant shot her in the chest and head before fleeing on a motorcycle with an accomplice.

Authorities are treating the case as a potential femicide, defined as the killing of a woman due to her gender. Now, speculations have

arisen about possible connections to organized crime, given the method of the attack and the

region's history with cartel violence. However, prosecutors have not confirmed any links to criminal groups.

Notably, Valeria had previously expressed concerns about her safety

and mentioned an ex-partner in messages, suggesting potential motives rooted in personal relationships.

Now, this murder has ignited outrage across Mexico, highlighting the country's ongoing struggle with gender-based violence. In 23,

Mexico reported 852 femicide, underscoring the severity of the issue.

Social media platforms have been flooded with tributes to Valeria, as well as calls for

justice and systemic change.

This case has also drawn parallels to the recent murder of a Colombian influencer who was similarly

killed by a man posing as a delivery person. Valeria was a rising star in the beauty and

fashion industry with over 350,000 followers on her social media platforms, TikTok, and Instagram.
