Hey, 11 listeners, guess what I got? I got another case for you. As of right now, the United States,

and probably many people around the world, are captivated with this Karen Reed trial.

But you know who's not captivated with it? Australia. Because they have a trial of their own

that they're watching. This is the case of

Aaron Patterson. Who is Aaron Patterson, you might be asking? Well, she's a 50-year-old woman from

Leongatha, Victoria, Australia. And she is currently on trial for the alleged poisoning deaths of three relatives and the

attempted murder of a fourth during a family lunch in July of 2003. This case has attracted

significant national and even international attention due to its unusual circumstances and the severity of

these allegations. On July 29, 2003, Aaron hosted a lunch at her home serving Beef Wellington to her

former in-laws, Don and Gail Patterson, and their relatives. Actually, this was Gail's sister,

Heather, and her husband, Ian Wilkinson. Now, shortly after the meal, all four guests became ill

and were hospitalized. Now, all started showing signs of the same illness about 12 hours after they returned

home from Aaron's house. Now, Dawn and Gail Patterson, along with her sister, Heather Wilkinson,

died within days, while Ian Wilkinson survived after a liver transplant and an extended hospital stay.

Now, Aaron herself reported gastrointestinal symptoms and sought medical attention but was not admitted.

Patterson faces three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, and initially she was also

charged with multiple counts of attempted murder related to alleged prior incidents involving

her estranged husband, Simon Patterson, between 2021 and 2022.

These charges have since been dropped, and the jury has been instructed to disregard them.

Now, her estranged husband, Simon Patterson, was also invited to the luncheon, but declined to attend, and Aaron's two children that she had with Simon were not present because she had arranged for
