The FBI is investigating after an off-duty pilot allegedly tried to crash a passenger plane.

Alaska Airlines flight 2059 left Everett Washington bound for

San Francisco at 523 p.m. Sunday packed full with 80 passengers and 44 year old

Joseph Emerson an off-duty pilot with Alaska Airlines who was

hitching a ride seated in a jump seat inside the cockpit. Soon after takeoff he

allegedly tried to cut the plane's engines by pulling the fire extinguisher handles on the engines called a T handle.

The crew able to overpower Emerson and get him out of that cockpit, handcuffing him to a seat in the rear of the cabin.

The airline and the FAA say the incident is not related to current events.

What was that last night? it wasn't a terrorist thing? Oh, okay. Um, I guess just because I saw a picture of the guy and heard his name I just never crossed my mind that it would be but um, was I gonna say oh weedy guy in his

40s luckily and they were apparently pretty easy to overpower him and and

get him out of there and chain him to the seat or whatever.

But all the accounts, people that have gone around interviewing friends and family and

stuff in the neighborhood where he lives, completely like 100% nothing sketch at all about him normal dude that just all of a sudden

decided he was going to kill himself on 80 other people?

If that's what he was up to?

Yeah, what a bizarre and troubling case,

or story.

You know, thank goodness, it's harder to do than he thought it was?

He's a pilot you think.
