So Jesse Smala's conviction gets overturned by the Illinois Supreme Court.

Jesse Smullough was originally convicted of orchestrating a hate crime in December of 2021.

We all remember this.

He was, he was, uh, pretend like he got drunk on the way home with a subway sandwich and

said it was people yelling at him saying Maga country and

they ended up beating him up. We all know how that story went. Turned out that it ended up being a

bunch of Nigerians that he hired to do so. I remember when this story first broke. I was one of

the first people that even make a YouTube video on it, probably the first person because I was chronically online at the time.

And I broke it down.

I went to like the actual city streets using Google Maps and it was clear as day that it was a hoax.

So the Illinois Supreme Court overturned Jesse Smollett's hate crime hoax conviction on Thursday.

We're going to see why they overturned it. I read,

I was reading somewhere earlier that it might have been over a technicality or something.

So today we resolve a question. This is a quote about the state's responsibility to

honor the agreements it makes with defendants. The court wrote in documents obtained by Fox

Digital. Specifically, we

address whether a dismissal of the case allows the state to bring a second prosecution when the

dismissal was entered into the party of agreement, but the defendant and the defendant has

performed his part of the bargain. We hold that the second prosecution under these

circumstances is due process violation and we therefore reverse the defendant's conviction.

So Smellett, who is black and gay, I just think it's funny how they say that, reported to

Chicago police that he was a victim of a racist homophobic attack by two men wearing ski masks in January 2019.
