Summary

Junko Furuta was a Japanese high school student who was the unfortunate victim of a random and horrendous crime in the early 1980s. On her way home, she was kidnapped by a few low-ranking members of the infamous Yakuza gang. For the next 44 days, Junko was brutally tortured and raped by various teenage boys. Her body was discovered by investigators on April 1989 encased in concrete in a steel drum. Savannah explores the frightening details of Junko’s final moments and the subsequent trial of the boys responsible that sent shockwaves throughout Japan.
